Building in public: what 1,000 paying creators taught me

We crossed 1,000 paying creators this week. I still run this alone, so I want to write down what actually worked while it's fresh — mostly for me, but maybe it helps you too.

What moved the needle

• Using my own product in public. Every update about Post Bridge was posted through Post Bridge. People watched the compose-once loop happen in real time on their own feeds. That was the best demo I could have built.
• Saying the number. "60 minutes to 60 seconds" is concrete. It converts because it's a promise you can check.
• Shipping the boring thing. Multi-account support isn't sexy. It's also the #1 reason agencies and creators-with-a-brand-account paid. Boring and load-bearing.
• Per-platform previews. The moment I shipped true previews, churn dropped. People trusted the tool because they could see what would go out.

What I wasted time on

• A settings page nobody asked for. I built granular notification preferences before anyone requested them. Two people ever touched it.
• Chasing every platform's newest format on day one. I should have gone deep on the nine that mattered before adding a tenth.
• Over-designing the landing page early. The product sold the product. I could have shipped an uglier site sooner.

The numbers, honestly

1,000+ paying, roughly a 4% weekly churn I'm still trying to push down, and a referral program that quietly drives about a fifth of new signups. I pay 30% recurring for referrals and it's the cheapest, happiest acquisition channel I have.

What's next

Analytics. The thing every creator eventually asks is "did it work?" — and until recently Post Bridge couldn't answer. Now every posted update reports back views and engagement per platform. If you're on the tool, it's already live in your dashboard.
